Yesterday on the blog, I shared a bunch of summer outfit inspiration. As I mentioned in that post, one of my favorite things to wear in the summer is a good lightweight dress. I found this one at Nordstrom for under $100, and I’m completely obsessed.
The light lilac color is so feminine, and just a little more special than a neutral. I typically pair midi dresses with sandals, but I found these cactus slip ons from Soludos and fell in love with them. Paired with a straw hat and big straw tote, it’s basically perfect summer outfit.
Next week begins the biggest sale of the year — the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! It’s the one we all wait for because unlike other sales that discount last season’s items, this is a sale on all the incoming styles. So you get the first look and the best price!
I’ve had some questions about the sale, and how to shop it when it’s so overwhelmingly huge, so today I’m sharing 5 tips to shop it, and then giving two lucky winners a $50 gift card to shop it (or buy yourself this pretty lavender dress right now…your choice ;))
- Shop Early Access. The sale opens a full week early for Nordstrom cardholders. Once it’s open to everyone, a lot of sizes and pieces are long gone, so it’s worth it to get a card, even if you only use it once a year. They’re giving away a $20 Nordstrom Note for anyone who applies and gets approved before Sunday — details are here!
- Shop Online. Trust me, you don’t want to go anywhere near the stores during the sale. It’s a legitimate ZOO. And with free shipping and free returns, it’s a no-brainer. Eat your breakfast with your computer in your nice, calm house and shop away.
- Check back here the morning of the sale. I do a full roundup with the best pieces at the best price points, so you don’t have to dig through pages and pages to find the good stuff. This year I’ll have it all broken into categories — tops, dresses, kids, beauty, shoes, etc. — so it’ll be really easy to find what you want without any work. You can see last year’s dressing room round ups here, and here (and I’ll be sure to do a dressing room roundup this year too)!
- Make a list. If you do want to browse through the site, go in with a game plan. When shopping sales, it’s easy to get caught up in all the low prices and end up with things you don’t love. Make a list of items you want to buy and use that as a guide as you shop. Also, use the filter options to narrow your search to just heels, or just crossbody bags so you don’t get too overwhelmed.
- Pick one, buy two. If you’re buying online, it’s hard to know exactly how things are going to fit, so do yourself a favor and pick it up in several sizes. You’ll be bummed if your box arrives in the mail a few days later, the size you picked doesn’t fit, and the size you need is now sold out. Or if your size is already sold out, buy a bigger size and then exchange it after the prices go back up at the end of the sale and everything gets restocked! They’ll honor the lower price and you’ll get your size!
