One of my very favorite things in the world is sit and eat outside. When I was little, we’d go visit my grandparents in Wisconsin and they had a large porch overlooking their beautiful backyard. During the warm months, my Grannie would serve lunch or dinner out there on her white and yellow deck furniture, and then the adults would sit on the porch while the kids ran around on the grass or jumped in piles of leaves. It was just so perfect. So I’ve always dreamed of having an outdoor space to sit and eat and relax.

Our new home has an outdoor room with large sliding pocket doors that can open all the way up to make it part of the house. I’ve been dreaming of utilizing this space, that looks out to our grass and garden, since the moment we moved in. So I was thrilled to team up with POLYWOOD and Hayneedle to make this space beautiful, comfortable, and relaxing.

POLYWOOD is a really cool line of outdoor furniture that’s completely made out of plastic lumbar made from recycled plastic milk jugs. It’s incredibly sturdy and attractive, and I love that it’s completely weather proof! You can read more about the brand right here.

We chose their brand new 5 piece conversation set in the slate gray/natural color, and then added some neutral pillows with various patterns and texture. We had this old rug from San’s nursery in our last home, and it was the perfect size and color palette for this outdoor space.

I don’t think any outdoor space is complete without greenery, so we added a row of plants on one side (they’re schefflera arboricola “gold capella” plants), a few pots of colorful hydrangeas on the other, a bowl full of succulents on the table, and some hanging flowers from the roof.
